Breakfast is perhaps the single most debated meal. Some say it is the holy grail. A must have. Others like to believe that you can skip breakfast and that it is the marketing propaganda the cereal companies are putting out. Whichever school of thought you follow, here I define breakfast in its most literal form: the meal that breaks your nightlong fast. Regardless if that is the first thing you do when you wake up or after an hour or two.
Phew, now that this debate is out of the way, on with the blog. I am very meticulous with my morning routine to ensure that I have as few things to think about in the morning as possible. Now that I have graduated college and somehow need to feed myself, I found great resolution in smoothies.
So, the logical next step for me was to optimize this smoothie, SouperSmoothie if you will, as best as I could to make sure that not only it was convenient but also the healthiest smoothie possible and that it tasted great. Few other constraints that I gave myself were:
- had to have the least number of ingredients possible to make it convenient
- had to have sufficient amount of calories to serve as a meal substitute
- had to be free of any artificial powders, additives or anything else
