Experiments
With my philosophy of automating/outsourcing the low value yielding activites in my life, laundry was always one that I battled religiously. I carried out many experiements and iterations that attempted to streamline my laundry one of which was socks.
I had accumulated tonnes of different pairs of socks over the years and given this variation, I had to waste 30 minutes after having done my laundry just to go through my pile of socks, pair them into groups and then fold each one. If that wasn’t enough, my drier somehow always seemed to be eating up single pairs of socks and so I’d have to deal with the anxiety of not being able to find the matching pair of the other sock and having to throw it away. Untill one day, when having to deal with this inconvenience struck me as being ridicilous. Why should I waste time on something as useless as folding and organizing socks when I can instead streamline the whole process. So I did. I invested less than $50 to order 54 pairs of regular black socks. I obviously needed to have a way to tell sports socks with regular socks apart, so I decided to categorize them by color. I bought all these new pairs of socks and dumped them into my sock drawer and got rid of all my old pair of socks. Results
PS: A great way to organize your shirts. Its not my idea, but its great and I organize my clothes accordingly. (Apologies for not being able to credit)
