Experiment
Cutting hair is one of those mindless tasks in my life that I figured I could take control of. Yet it was one of those cultural values so deeply ingrained into my life that I never considered its possibility.
Just to get a 15 minute hair cut done, I used to have to leave my house, take a bus for 40 minutes, arrive at the hairdresser, to have to waste 30-45 minutes in line, and only then to get a hairstyle that is limited to my poor description of the wild ideas I would envision in my head. Untill one day, when having to pay for this inconvenience struck me as being ridicilous. Why do I want to go through all this hassle, and have to fork out 20$ of my pocket money when I can probably teach myself the same thing. So I did. I invested 25$ into a hair dressing Kit (YES, the ROI is 89729112602% and you make back your principle within 1.25 haircuts.) After a few youtube videos, dozens of messed up haircuts, and hundreds of surprised reactions, I now do a pretty good job of cutting not only my own hair but also some of my friends’ too. If you are interested, I would highly recommend investing in a clipper set (especially men). Following is a system that I follow that helps with the process. Apologies that this segment may alienate those with longer hair as my experience is limited to cutting short hair. 1-) Get a clipper on the lowest setting of your preference and start going around the scalp only cutting until your eyebrow. 2-) Increase the number by two, and do the same cut but this time going up till your top hairline. 3-) Decrease the number by one and fade the difference 4-) Take off all attachments and line up the edges of the hair to your preference. 5-) For top of your hair use a thinning scissors and just streak through according to your preferences. This is a low risk system that works for me and would be a good basis to begin experimenting on your own hair. I would warn you that, however, you will likely make mistakes and its a learning process that, in my opinion, is worth its weight in gold. Results

I like the tip that you gave that the clipper set should be one of your priorities for investing because of their function. My brother informed me yesterday that he is now considering getting his hair cut, and he asked if I had any idea what would be the best option to learn how to cut hair properly. I appreciate this helpful article, I'll tell him that he can consult a well-known hair-cutting tutorial service as they can provide more information.
